Atalanta table £6.7m bid to sign Everton defender Ben Godfrey
Serie A club Atalanta have tabled a £6.7million bid for Everton defender Ben Godfrey, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Writing on his website (26 June), the reliable journalist reports that the Europa Conference League winners tabled a bid for the former England international and are keen to add him to their squad.
David Ornstein reported on Wednesday (26 June) that the Toffees had received a bid worth €10m (£8.4million), but Di Marzio believes the deal was actually worth less although negotiations are still ongoing.
Everton have Ben Godfrey transfer decision to make
The transfer window at Goodison Park is going to be very busy with incomings and outgoings expected throughout, and there will be some big decisions to make.
The club have already rejected a £43million bid for Jarrad Branthwaite from Manchester United while they hold out for £70million, while Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are also expected to be subject to offers at some point.
But while they are key players, the contract situation of Godfrey and the fact he is largely a back-up player in the squad means there is a decision to make on his future.

Godfrey has turned down a new contract and with bids flying in for the versatile defender, they face a dilemma about whether to sell up or risk losing him for free in 2025.
They have valued him at £15million and while that may be on the high side, £6.7million is simply too low and the club are right to push for more cash before agreeing to a sale.
