Ben Godfrey confirms Everton exit as Atalanta transfer sealed

The centre-back has been a long-standing player at Goodison Park, having arrived at the club from Norwich City for £20million in 2020 [Sky Sports].

While many will feel that his entire Toffees career was not a complete success, the player has gone on to make 93 appearances and became a utility man under Sean Dyche last season.

Of course, with Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski making up the centre of defence, there was little room for anyone else to stamp their mark, with Michael Keane and Mason Holgate also left out.

Godfrey was given an opportunity to prove himself at full-back on several occasions, mainly due to injuries in the team, seeing him make 13 Premier League starts.

However, with no promise of any game time next season, it is understandable to see him adventure out of Merseyside and find a new challenge, where Evertonians will be supporting him from afar.

Serie A could be the perfect league for him to find his feet as a defender, and given his young age, there will be plenty of time for him to reignite his career and continue his development and footballing journey.
