Everton to spend millions to sack Sean Dyche after Dan Friedkin takeover news
Everton would have to spend millions to sack Sean Dyche this summer after reports Dan Friedkin wants his own manager, according to Dan Plumley.
According to Il Messaggero (16 June), the American is set to complete his takeover of the Toffees after agreeing a deal with Farhad Moshiri for his 94.1% stake in the club.
But the report states that Friedkin is set to start a restructuring of the club including new managers, and football finance expert Plumley believes it would cost in the low millions for Dyche to be removed as manager as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
“I think you’re talking about the millions, probably the low millions, but it’s difficult to judge because we don’t see these compensation fees out there in the public,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“We see one or two high profile ones so you’re always working off best guess estimates and that’ll be what’s due on his contract and the negotiations.
“It will cost millions, I think, is the going rate. Probably in the low millions, and again, it’s the message you’re trying to send out by doing that.
“It will be an interesting one to keep an eye on as and when the takeover gets through because we’re not too far away from pre-season and plans have been made to push forward next season as well.”

It seems as though Friedkin has made a decision on the future of the manager, and it could immediately cause a divide between the new ownership and the fans.
Dyche did a stellar job in the 2023/24 season by leading the team to a fifteenth-place finish despite having eight points deducted from their total for PSR breaches. They would have finished in 11th place with those points still on the board.

He has also created a fantastic relationship with the fans during his time at the club and if he were to be sacked for no reason other than the owner wanting a shiny new toy in charge it would be a bad decision.
Spending millions on a new manager when the finances of the club are the way they are would sum up a lot of things, and prove that Everton have no intention of being serious in the future.
