Amadou Onana is Deco favourite with Everton transfer development lined up

Everton star Amadou Onana is Deco’s “favourite” choice to fill the Barcelona midfield void, according to Sport.

The Spanish newspaper reported in its print edition on 1 July [page 15] that the La Liga giants have two priority target positions this summer.

Those being, defensive midfield and left back and, due to being Deco’s favourite, Onana has found himself at the top of the list this summer.

Should Everton let Amadou Onana leave?

Since the end of the 2023/24 season, several players have been linked with moves away from Goodison Park.

Of all the players linked with moves away, however, both Jarrad Branthwaite and Onana have been the two most touted to be exit-bound.

Although the rumours around Branthwaite to Manchester United have now seemingly died down [GiveMeSport, 28 June], talk is still rife around Onana.

The Belgium international was in stellar form last season at times and although he wasn’t in the thick of things towards the end of the season, he played his part when called upon.

However, as a fee of around £50million is expected to be enough for Sean Dyche to allow his star midfielder to depart this summer, it almost feels like a no-brainer for clubs to make moves for him.

The future of the Belgium international will certainly be one to watch over the coming weeks.

In other Everton news, Alan Myers has revealed that the Toffees will dip into the market this summer for a Ben Godfrey replacement.
