Everton receive ‘big boost’ as Manchester United update emerges on Jarrad Branthwaite
Bryan King believes Jarrad Branthwaite would benefit from spending another season at Goodison Park with Everton.
The ex-Goodison scout claims keeping hold of the defender would be a “big boost” for the Toffees.
As reported by iNews on Monday (1 July), United are not expected to make another offer for Branthwaite as things stand, with Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt now a “top target” at Old Trafford.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t think this is necessarily a bad thing for the player.
“This is certainly a big boost for the club and Sean Dyche in particular,” King said.
“Branthwaite is a player who was a mainstay in the team last season and earned his England call-up as a result of his form.
“I don’t think another year in the Premier League with Everton would do Branthwaite or the Toffees any harm. Unless, of course, the club are desperate to sell him.”
Will Manchester United sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton?
Although the Red Devils might not be ready to make another move now, that doesn’t necessarily mean Branthwaite won’t leave Goodison Park this summer.
There is still plenty of time left in the summer transfer window which means lots of opportunities for twists and turns.
Should anything change, or perhaps if the Toffees reconsider their stance on Branthwaite, there will no doubt be clubs interested in signing the centre-back at a cut-price fee.

Although for now, it looks as if the defender is increasingly likely to remain with the club next season, which would be a huge boost.
