Everton incoming transfer update emerges as work in progress in wake of Iliman Ndiaye deal

Everton are assessing multiple potential new signings currently, Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers believes.

He gave a Toffees transfer update via X on 5 July in response to an inquiry from a fan as to whether the club were working further incoming deals.

So far during the transfer window Everton have completed permanent deals for Tim Ireogbunam from Aston Villa and Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, while securing a second loan of Jack Harrison from Leeds United.

Myers says “things are being looked at and worked on, yes” as Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell look to further enhance the squad.

The activity in the market so far has been more extensive than might have been feared through dark times last season when the threat of administration seemed more relevant in terms of whatever finances were available at Goodison Park.

But with a number of departures already confirmed, and some high-profile ones still on the cards, the three incoming deals can only represent positive steps rather than a job well done.

Encouragingly, Myers update seems to back up reported activity towards further deals in a variety of positions.

Although star man Jarrad Branthwaite appears to be going nowhere for now money has been put on the table for another centre-back in former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez [Ali Naci Küçük, 5 July], while there have been links to options at both full-back spots.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s situation will have to be resolved one way or another this summer as it seems undesirable all round for the striker to enter the new season with less then a year on his contract, and it appears a sale is currently more likely than an extension [Myers, 24 June].

So a new striker looks to be a possibility despite the arrival of versatile attacker Ndiaye, with well-known links to Chelsea’s Armando Broja perhaps most prominent, while a decision looks set to arrive imminently on the future of Hull City star Jaden Philogene who Everton have also made an offer for.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set for an “enormous” opportunity to assume a position of influence.
