Everton told demands to seal new Arthur Melo transfer after approach
Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo will be available for a fee of £12.6million should Everton wish to buy him this summer, according to Mirko Di Natale.
The Tutto Juve journalist reported via X on 8 July that the Toffees were the first Premier League team to make their move for the Brazilian.
Newcastle, Roma and Napoli have also considered moving for the former Liverpool loanee so far.
Why Everton want to sign Arthur Melo this summer
Although it looks as if Amadou Onana is set to stay put at Goodison Park for now, things can change in the blink of an eye.
Alongside Jarrad Branthwaite, the Belgium international is one of Sean Dyche’s men who have been consistently linked with a move away from Merseyside.
Despite Barcelona sporting director, Deco highlighting the 22-year-old as his “favourite” option [Sport, 1 July] for the defensive midfield spot, without sales the La Liga giants are unlikely to raise enough funds to pry the former Lille man from Everton.
Arthur would be a direct swap for the defensive midfielder if he departs but he could also slot just above Onana and even try his luck in Abdoulaye Doucoure’s role if he was needed to.
Last term he wasn’t short of goal involvements with the 27-year-old bagging a total of six goals and assists in just 33 Serie A appearances at Fiorentina.
These returns are fairly solid, especially when it’s taken into account that for the vast majority of the 2023/24 season, the midfielder was deployed as a defensive midfielder.
