Everton still vulnerable after June 30 in brand new transfer development

Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton are still vulnerable to big bids despite the June 30 financial deadline passing at Goodison Park.

The finance expert admitted that it is more likely that players like Jarrad Branthwaite will stay at Goodison Park now, but big hitters could still test their resolve.

It comes after Manchester United made a second bid worth £50million for the England international, which was swiftly rejected [Alan Myers].

“I think this is where you get clubs playing cat and mouse with each other in these phases of the window,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“The first phase is this June period where it becomes really critical against PSR regulations, then you’re into the next phase of does that make you more or less vulnerable to losing some of your best players?

You would suggest that for the most part, if you get over the deadline, there is more of a likelihood that player stays, but if a big hitter comes in with a bigger bid and we know the biggest clubs can spend more than the rest, you test your resolve a bit.

There is no kind of prediction model as to where that is going to fall, but I do think it is a little bit of both, it is not as easy as saying you get over the June 30 hurdle, that is it now because the window is still open and clubs are still going to do business.”

Everton vulnerable to new transfer developments

Just because the club may be vulnerable to bigger bids, that doesn’t mean they will be forced to accept them, although it is possible.

It is very clear that £70million will get a deal done for Branthwaite, and accepting that would be huge for the financial picture of the club [James Ducker].

With time back on their side after the June 30 deadline passing, other players will likely be on the chopping block first.

In other Everton news, the club have been backed to beat Nottingham Forest to a £30million-rated signing.
