Everton could seal loan-to-buy move in talks for Jesper Lindstrom after complete disaster

Everton face competition from Lyon are they look to bring in Napoli attacker Jesper Lindstrøm, according to Football Italia.

The outlet’s website reported on 13 July that the Danish winger could be allowed to leave the Antonio Conte’s side on loan with an option to make the deal permanent for around €25million [£21.03m].

Lindstrøm only arrived at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium a year ago for €30m [£25.24m] but reportedly proved to be a “total disaster” during a chaotic season for the Italian side.

Fabrizio Romano reported earlier on 13 July that the Toffees have entered into talks over a deal and the 24-year-old is the club’s “next top target”.

Everton target unwanted by Antonio Conte after nightmare season

Lindstrøm’s record of zero goals or assists while making only three starts from his 29 appearances in all competitions last season is unlikely to get many Evertonians excited.

But the Denmark international could justifiably claim he was far from the only issue at Napoli last term where a dismal defence of their Scudetto saw them finish 10th in Serie A.

Luciano Spalletti’s departure to take the national team job after winning the title gave way to three managers over the course of last season as none of Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri or Francesco Calzona lasted more than five months.

It may be a risk to assume he rebounds in the Premier League but might be fairer to judge Lindstrøm’s adaptation to Eintracht Frankfurt where he registered 28 combined goals and assists in 80 games for the Bundesliga side after 30 in total from 65 for Brondby in his homeland.

Jack Harrison is unlikely to stay with Everton next season

Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche to think carefully about how to proceed if they have multiple attacker targets still this summer.

Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwu is also a possible loan addition for central midfield areas [Foot Mercato, 13 July].

Jack Harrison has already filled one loan slot at Goodison Park and with Amadou Onana now heading for a £50million move to Aston Villa [David Ornstein, 13 July] the talented Stamford Bridge midfielder may be more a important addition.
