Liverpool transfer twist emerges as Everton eye Jesper Lindstrom deal
Jesper Lindstrom could be the perfect summer transfer addition for Everton, even though he’s a self-proclaimed Liverpool fan.
According to Fabrizio Romano [12 July], the Toffees are in talks with Napoli to sign Lindstrom, a 24-year-old Danish international.
As outlined by Romano himself last September, Lindstrom has previously turned down down interest form the club across Stanley Park.
“Liverpool wanted me, I am a Liverpool fan, but would it have been an intelligent move?” Lindstrom said in quotes that have resurfaced following this latest speculation.
He chose Napoli, where he thought he’d get more minutes on the pitch. Unfortunately, his stint in Naples hasn’t gone as planned.
Lindstrom made 22 appearances in Serie A, but only started two games and didn’t score or assist. This lack of playing time also cost him a spot at Euro 2024.
Everton in talks with Napoli to sign Jesper Lindstrom
The Toffees are now looking to do what Liverpool could not by signing Lindstrom – a move that could benefit both parties.
Everton, under Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell, need attacking reinforcements. Lindstrom’s past performances at Eintracht Frankfurt show his potential: 14 goals and 14 assists over two seasons.
His talent is undeniable, even if his time at Napoli wasn’t successful. A fresh start at Goodison Park, where he can play regularly, might be just what Lindstrom needs to revive his career.
The Toffees have been active this summer, signing players like Tim Iroegbunam, Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye. Adding Lindstrom could be a smart move, especially after missing out on Hull City’s Jaden Philogene [The Mirror, July 12].

Despite Lindstrom’s Liverpool connections, his move to Everton makes sense. He needs game time, and Everton need a versatile forward.
In football, career decisions often outweigh childhood allegiances. For Lindstrom, joining Everton could be the ideal step to get back on track, while Everton get a player hungry to prove himself. It’s a win-win situation.
In other Everton news, Dyche is planning a “spectacular” revival at Goodison Park as a new permanent signing closes in.
