Everton shareholder lauds Jordan Pickford after what he saw in England v Spain

Everton shareholder Mike Parry has heralded Jordan Pickford after the England v Spain Euro 2024 final on 14 July.

The 30-year-old was spotted in tears as the Three Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat in Berlin and failed to bring back the trophy home.

However, Pickford put in a spirited performance all tournament and has been Gareth Southgate’s undisputed number one.

Parry wrote on his X account on 14 July: “Tears from Jordan but really he couldn’t have done more throughout the tournament. Very proud of our Englan goalie. The most successful keeper since Gordon Banks.”

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is an all-time England great

Despite England’s loss in the Euro 2024 final to Spain, Pickford has solidified his status as one of England’s all-time great goalkeepers.

The 30-year-old’s performances throughout the tournament were stellar, breaking records for the most clean sheets kept by an English goalkeeper at major tournaments.

His crucial saves in the knockout stages, including a penalty shootout against Switzerland, showcased his ability to perform under pressure.

Pickford’s journey to becoming an England great began in 2018 when he played a pivotal role in England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals.

His performances at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup further cemented his place as the Three Lions’ number one goalkeeper.

Pickford’s ability to command his area, make crucial saves and distribute the ball effectively has made him an invaluable asset to the England team as well as the Toffees.

In other Everton news, the transfer of a Toffees-linked defender is now inevitable with his club granting him permission for a medical.
