Liverpool player Harvey Elliott sends message as Everton gem exits Goodison Park

Liverpool ace Harvey Elliott has sent a good luck message to outgoing Everton midfielder Josh Warrington.

Warrington posted a heartfelt goodbye to the Toffees’ fans on his Instagram page [15 July] after spending 15 years with the Merseyside club.

Everton confirmed earlier in the summer transfer window that Warrington would not be offered a new contract.

Elliott replied “All the best brother” to Warrington’s farewell post as the latter continues to search for a new club.

Lewis Warrington part of Everton clearout

The last few seasons have been fairly difficult for Everton. The 2023/24 campaign in particular was tough as they had the prospect of a takeover looming over their heads as well as multiple point deductions throughout the season.

Although the deductions didn’t see the end of Everton’s Premier League status, it evidently caused a stir as the club chose to sell youth talent Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa [TEAMtalk, 20 June] in order to get themselves over the PSR guidelines.

Changes aplenty have occurred at Goodison Park, with players such as Iliman Ndiaye arriving and Amadou Onana almost out the exit door.

Although a fee wasn’t received for Warrington, as the club looks to build for the future thanks to the addition of Tim Iroegbunam, it’s likely that being released by the Toffees was the best option for both parties.

The midfielder is unlikely to be short of opportunities this summer and it’s likely that he’ll be representing a team further down the English league pyramid at some point in the near future.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are readying themselves for the transfer of Arthur Melo this summer.
