Tim Iroegbunam has issued a heartfelt goodbye message to Aston Villa ahead of a transfer to Everton this summer.

According to SecretScout [20 June], the 20-year-old midfielder was on his way to Finch Farm on Thursday to complete a medical ahead of a proposed move to Goodison Park.

That move looks to be edging ever closer and Iroegbunam's message on Instagram only seconds that, having now said goodbye to his teammates, coaches and fans.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (22 June), he wrote: "After an amazing three years at Aston Villa, it is time to say goodbye. I have so much to thank everyone at this club for from making my premier league debut to playing in Europe.

"It has truly been amazing. Everyone involved in this journey has been so good to me and I won’t forget it. It was an honour to call myself a Villan.

"To my teammates, coaches and to you fans. You will all be missed. Lots of love, Tim Iroegbunam."

While moves away from clubs are emotional, it is part of the sport, especially when teams are being pressured by PSR laws in the Premier League.

The potential move has already been criticised, with the two clubs looking to balance their books - Lewis Dobbin going the other way to Villa Park.

However, looking past that, the Toffees are set to add a very talented young midfielder to their ranks ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, which could be vital this summer.

Although Sean Dyche currently has James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gueye at his disposal, Amadou Onana could be exiting Goodison Park during the transfer window.

The Belgian is currently trying to impress on the international stage at Euro 2024, attempting to secure a move away from Merseyside, which the club seem to be in favour of.

With PSR being an issue for the Toffees throughout the 2023/24 campaign, they will be keen to avoid those same issues next season, so Onana's departure would certainly help with funds.

It would also mean that the club are much more likely to keep Jarrad Branthwaite amid interest from Premier League clubs, having had a standout season at Goodison Park.
