Everton figures surprised by Manchester United transfer agreement at Old Trafford
Everton figures were surprised to see Manchester United agree a deal to sign Lille youngster Leny Yoro, according to Manchester Evening News.
Yoro, 18, is reportedly discussing personal terms with the Red Devils after a fee rising to £62million was agreed.
Everton were taken aback that United have gone after Yoro after pursuing Jarrad Branthwaite for so long, with the Frenchman being three years younger and having zero international experience to his name.
Jarrad Branthwaite transfer dilemma at Everton
There are lots of different factors to consider when discussing Branthwaite’s future.
Firstly, in the wake of not making England’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad, he’ll be hungry to stand out wherever he plays this season. Secondly, Jim Ratcliffe doesn’t appear to be wasting any time when it comes to splashing the cash at Old Trafford.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Branthwaite is nailed on to make the move to Manchester. However, there’s certainly plenty of room with Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala both heading for the exit, and their centre-back partnership is far from locked in.
Everton are being smart though, and they are not buckling to anyone over their star defender, with offers of up to £70million still needed.
Manchester United can play hardball as much as they want with their offers [The Times], but Sean Dyche will be more than happy if he keeps Branthwaite around beyond the summer transfer window.
