Everton make Jesper Lindstrom request ahead of new transfer at Goodison Park

Everton have made a request to sign Napoli playmaker Jesper Lindstrom, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition (17 July, page 6) that Everton and Lyon have made it clear to Napoli that they want the “Tremendous” 24-year-old now.

Aston Villa are also said to be in the race as the Denmark international looks set to move on this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport, 15 July).

Can Jesper Lindstrom seal his transfer to Everton?

For Everton, this transfer window is all about rebuilding.

They know that big names like Amadou Onana are leaving to ease the financial burden on the club. At the same time, Sean Dyche is as hungry as he’s ever been to help lift the Toffees to brand-new heights.

Lindstrom is the latest Scandinavian playmaker to be linked with a switch to the Premier League.

However, while he was successful with Brondby and Eintracht Frankfurt, his decision to move to Napoli hasn’t quite worked out as well as he would’ve hoped.

In his first season, he failed to score or assist in 22 Serie A games (FBref). He certainly shows a lot of promise on the ball but if he’s going to make it in England, he needs the kind of finishing product that will make fans sit up and take notice.

This is a big opportunity, but it’s also a big risk for the Merseyside boys.
