Everton plot move for Becir Omeragic in brand new transfer
Everton are eyeing Montpellier defender Becir Omeragic, according to Foot Mercato.
The French outlet reported on Wednesday (July 17) that after signing Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, the club is now focusing on defensive reinforcements.
They have their sights set on 22-year-old Omeragic, a standout Swiss defender for Montpellier.
Omeragic’s impressive season in Ligue 1 has also rekindled interest from German clubs, but the Toffees could be the first to make a move, Foot Mercato said.
Everton to move for Becir Omeragic despite Jarrad Branthwaite’s future undecided
Everton are interested in Montpellier defender Omeragic, even though Jarrad Branthwaite’s future remains undecided.
Manchester United have recently reached an agreement to sign Leny Yoro for up to £62million [The Athletic, July 17] and this has justified Everton’s firm stance on Branthwaite.
Despite interest from top clubs and rejected bids, the Toffees view Branthwaite as invaluable, especially after his stellar performances last season.
Everton’s determination to keep Branthwaite shows their commitment to building a strong team for the future.

Nonetheless, despite the willingness to keep Branthwaite, Sean Dyche’s side is also expected to move for Omeragic who will add more depth at Goodison Park and could be a decent replacement if Branthwaite leaves.
And it is a move that would seem to make sense from Dyche’s perspective, particularly given – even if Branthwaite stays – they have already lost Ben Godfrey this summer. Another option at the back certainly would not go amiss.
