Everton update on Jarrad Branthwaite as Manchester United agree transfer

Manchester United are still interested in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite despite agreeing a deal to sign Lille’s Leny Yoro, according to Sky Sports.

Dharmesh Sheth has shared on their live blog (17 July, 09:31) that United are currently in talks with Leny Yoro’s representatives regarding personal terms.

Lille have accepted a bid from the Red Devils but Sheth has noted that Branthwaite is very much still an option for Erik ten Hag, despite there being no indication of Everton budging on their valuation.

Will Jarrad Branthwaite stay at Everton?

It’s been reported that Everton insiders are disappointed with Manchester United’s approach to signing Branthwaite (Liverpool Echo, 17 July).

The 22-year-old has been on their radar for a while, but they continue to undervalue him in the eyes of the Toffees.

Willy Kambwala and Raphael Varane have both left Manchester United already this summer, Harry Maguire is still working his way back to full fitness, and Branthwaite is 100 per cent healthy after missing out on England’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad.

Yoro certainly feels like a signing for the future – but Branthwaite could easily be the present, as he continues to prove every week.

Whether he is still an option or not, if Manchester United don’t pay what Everton wants, they will gratefully keep their wonderboy for many more years to come.

Sean Dyche will be delighted to see Yoro on his way to Old Trafford, with business set to continue as usual with Branthwaite at Goodison Park.
