Armando Broja transfer update emerges at Everton amid Friedkin takeover developments

Everton may reignite their interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja if Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves Goodison Park, according to BBC Sport.

The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (18 July) that the Toffees could potentially be able to afford the Albanian forward this summer if the takeover from the Friedkin group is completed shortly.

Calvert-Lewin could depart Goodison Park if he refuses to pen a new contract with Sean Dyche’s side, but the Blues are not under any pressure to sell any of their best players at this moment in time.

Newcastle United had been interested in the England international earlier this summer, while West Ham United are now understood to be in the race for his signature as well [Daily Mail, 16 July].

Will Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit Everton amid West Ham United transfer speculation?

Everton have already moved to strengthen their forward line this summer with the signing of Iliman Ndiaye, but the Toffees need further additions if they want to continue to climb up the Premier League table this season.

Broja may not be particularly proven in the Premier League and he has struggled for both minutes and goals in the last couple of seasons, but his loan spell at Southampton showed he can be a threat in the top flight.

His physical stature means that he would likely be suited for Dyche’s direct style of football and if Calvert-Lewin is sold, he would be as close to a like-for-like replacement as the Blues will be able to find this summer.

Hopefully, the Friedkin group’s takeover will be completed sooner rather than later so that Everton will have a bit more money to spend before the new Premier League campaign gets underway.

Whether or not the Toffees’ interest in Broja will be reignited remains to be seen, but it seems as though several things need to happen behind the scenes before a deal can be completed anyway.
