Everton told to cut ties with Beto as Alan Myers drops transfer news – ‘Huge outlay’

Dan Bardell has urged Everton to cut their losses on Beto amid interest from Bologna.

The Toffees signed the Portuguese forward in a deal worth £25.75 million [Sky Sports] just a year ago but he was far from successful in his debut campaign.

This could now see Sean Dyche move the 26-year-old on with Bologna interested [Alan Myers] after achieving Champions League qualification last season.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes Everton should move Beto on if an acceptable offer is made from the Serie A side.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “I think with Beto, after a huge outlay, the move hasn’t gone the way anyone wanted.

Everton knows that if he’s fit then Calvert-Lewin will be the number-one striker. If they can recoup what they spent on Beto then I think they should certainly do it.

I don’t think Everton could afford to turn down the money if he was offered anything close to that. There could be a market there because he’s done well in Italy previously.

I think Everton should cut their losses while they can.

Everton told to sell Beto

There isn’t much positivity surrounding the former Udinese forward with him scoring just five goals in his debut year across 37 appearances [FotMob].

The Toffees did spend a large fee on the forward a year ago so recouping as much of that could prove to be a smart piece of business.

However, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin potentially on the way out at the end of his contract, Dyche will need a senior striker option.

Beto may feel confident returning to Italy where he has scored goals in the past with the prospect of Champions League football.

Beto’s future remains uncertain

It remains unclear whether the Toffees would look to move him on, a deal would depend on the fee the Serie A outfit can offer.
