Everton transfer update emerges on Blackburn Rovers striker Sammie Szmodics

Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers is unaware of Everton signing Blackburn Rovers attacker Sammie Szmodics with Ipswich Town submitting a bid for him.

Myers took to X on 22 July to issue a verdict on the Toffees’ interest as the Goodison Park outfit have been linked with the 28-year-old this summer.

He also claimed that Ipswich’s offer has fallen way short of Blackburn’s valuation of the Republic of Ireland international.

He wrote: “Ipswich have made a bid for Blackburn Rovers striker Sammy Szmodics, however I understand there is a big gap between the offer and Rovers valuation of the player who was the Championship’s top scorer last season.”

When asked about the Toffees’ interest, he stated: “Not aware of that.”

Everton must sign Sammie Szmodics ahead of Blackburn Rovers

The club’s pursuit of Szmodics could be a game-changer for their attacking prowess.

The Blackburn Rovers forward, who was the Championship’s Golden Boot winner last season with 27 goals, has proven his ability to find the back of the net consistently.

Szmodics’ versatility is another key factor that makes him an attractive prospect for the Toffees.

He can play across the front line and even as a number 10, offering Sean Dyche tactical flexibility in his lineup.

His potential arrival could also ease the pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and provide healthy competition within the team.

However, Everton must act swiftly as Ipswich have already submitted a bid for Szmodics, albeit significantly below Blackburn’s valuation.

This indicates that competition for the player’s signature is heating up and the Toffees must not hesitate to make a competitive offer to secure Szmodics’ services.
