Jake O’Brien is a stellar coup for Everton
The Toffees needed reinforcement across the park this season after their fifteenth-placed finish last term.
The club has welcomed the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom to their ranks in hopes of improving their standing and perhaps avoiding being dragged into another relegation battle.
The addition of O’Brien has started some worry that Jarrad Branthwaite could be on his way out.
However, these rumours were quickly squashed by Alan Myers [27 July] who stated that the defender was being brought in as an extra option.
Both James Tarkwoski and Branthwaite are solid options when it comes to Premier League centre-backs with the duo being one of the main reasons why Dyche’s men didn’t fall further down the table.
But, the pair can’t be relied upon for the entire season and whilst they have backups in Michael Keane and Mason Holgate, neither are up to the same standards.
Hence why O’Brien’s addition is a vital one for the Toffees this term.
