Everton chief Farhad Moshiri destroyed by Simon Jordan live on talkSPORT, ‘clown’
Simon Jordan took a swipe at Everton owner Farhad Moshiri live on air but claimed that the Toffees‘ current debt situation isn’t a “catastrophe”.
Moshiri has been trying to sell Everton for what seems like an eternity now, but as soon as fans think a deal is nearing completion, something seems to go wrong.
Whilst speaking live on talkSPORT (7 August, 11:55), Jordan shared that he believes Moshiri has run the club as a “clown college” for the last five or six years.
But he also stated during his on-air rant that the clubs overall financial situation isn’t as bad as what people make it out to be.
“I don’t think it’s an ideal situation, but it’s not car crash territory ,” he said. “There are many levers to pull. It’s not an immediate cashflow call while you’re trying to find an owner that’s got deeper pockets and a better mentality than the guy that was running clown college for five or six years. I therefore don’t look at it as a catastrophe.”
He added: “Being in £600m of debt is no more concerning than having a big mortgage on a house, as long as the underlying asset is worth something. Being Everton and having a new stadium is a significant asset. The debt is a problem for the debt holders.”
During the conversation, co-host Jim White revealed that Andy Bell and George Downing have no intention of reviving their interest in purchasing the club.
Everton look set to improve their Premier League standing this season
Moshiri’s ownership of Everton hasn’t gone through the easiest or best of times, but Everton remain standing and are in a decent position on the field.
Even whilst Dan Friedkin’s now-collapsed takeover was ongoing, Moshiri managed – somehow – to keep investment coming into the club.
Jake O’Brien is arguably one of the best examples of this as, despite the club already having a plethora of centre-backs within their ranks, the Irishman was brought in to provide competition for both Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.

Everton have dipped their toes into the market consistently throughout the window and should they carry on as they are, there’s no doubt that the club should be able to improve their Premier League standing.
With Bell and Downing no longer in the picture, and 777 Partners long gone, it means there aren’t any candidates that currently stand out to purchase Everton. Something needs to happen before it becomes too late.
