Everton need to act fast if they want to sign Amir Richardson amid transfer update

Sean Dyche has made some shrewd additions to his Everton side during the transfer window.

The Toffees have been one of the busiest sides in the Premier League when it comes to player arrivals and departures this summer.

Talent such as Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien have been added, while Amadou Onana represents the highest-profile exit.

The midfielder was sold to Aston Villa for around £50million, with Dyche still exploring the market for a replacement.

While there have been many names that have cropped up since the Belgium international was sold, Reims midfielder Amir Richardson was the one who seemed to excite fans the most.

The 22-year-old has impressed for Morocco at the 2024 Olympics where his country play a bronze medal match on Thursday and is of the age and profile the Toffees want to be targeting.

However, since L’Equipe first reported the Toffees’ interest over a month ago (3 July), Reims have agreed to a deal with another club.

That is according to Le Parisien (8 August) who claim that Fiorentina have already had a bid accepted for the 22-year-old.

Their bid is worth around £8.6million and had a 10 per cent sell-on fee included for any future transfers away from the club.

Everton now need to set their sights elsewhere

Even though Dyche has already brought in a plethora of names this window, further additions will likely be needed to bolster their chances of improving their Premier League standing.

The Merseyside club finished in 15th place last season despite the eight-point deduction they suffered from two separate PSR charges.

Fortunately for Dyche, the club shouldn’t have to face these sanctions again during the 2024/25 campaign due to the smart sale of players such as Lewis Dobbin.

While there’s still plenty of time left in the window for changes to occur, if the Toffees want to acquire Richardson’s services, they’ll need to act fast to beat the Serie A side

In other Everton news, the Toffees are reportedly ‘desperate’ to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the club.
