Bournemouth eye Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton after club-record transfer confirmed
Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have both emerged as potential destinations for Dominic Calvert-Lewin if he leaves Everton, TEAMtalk reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 13 August the two Premier League clubs have shown interest in the Toffees striker, on top of previously-reported links to Manchester United and Newcastle.
The 27-year-old’s future remains up in the air as the transfer deadline approaches, with a resolution to his status now said to be the priority at Goodison Park [Liverpool Echo, 14 August].
Bournemouth have just sold top striker Dominic Solanke to Tottenham for £65million [Sky Sports, 10 August].
Bournemouth like Everton star after Dominic Solanke to Tottenham
Calvert-Lewin has entered the final year of his contract and has resisted the offer of an extension so the possibility of an exit can’t be ruled out until the deadline passes.
The close it gets to the end of the window the more of a potential issue it would become for Sean Dyche and the Toffees as he will not want to be left a man down.
Armando Broja appears a realistic prospect to replace him from Chelsea if necessary [i News, 12 August], while Vitor Roque at Barcelona has emerged as a far more unlikely one [Alan Myers, 13 August].
As things stand it appears interest in Calvert-Lewin has not translated into offers but Bournemouth have a clear need to strengthen in attack after losing their star man to Spurs.
They are also said to be interested in Eddie Nketiah at Arsenal [Daily Mail, 13 August], who himself has been named as an increasingly prominent replacement option for the Toffees [TEAMtalk, 13 August].
A Calvert-Lewin exit to Old Trafford would now be a huge surprise, according to Darren Bent [talkSPORT, 14 August], but things change very quickly in the final days, and hours, of a transfer window.
Palace also can’t be ruled out but the newly-minted Cherries can certainly afford the Goodison star, so if they haven’t signed anyone else soon it could become a real possibility.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in signing a USA international as a late move before the deadline is possible.
