Everton to be blown out of water as Goodison board bids £25.7m all in for Vitor Roque
Sporting CP look set to outbid Everton in a move to sign Barcelona forward Vitor Roque, according to Que Deportes.
The Spanish news outlet reported on 15 August that Everton’s board have made an offer totalling £25.7million for the 19-year-old Brazilian with £21.4million of it to be paid up front with the rest made up in add-ons.
However, it is understood that Sporting CP “will try to move heaven and earth” to sign Roque and are now set to offer more.
Barca reportedly want up to £30million to sell the former Athletico-PR winger, who only joined the La Liga side last year.
Everton set to miss out on Vitor Roque
It makes a lot of sense for Everton to try to sign Roque.
He’s a young attacker who’s probably got a lot of re-sale value that could really help the club’s financial position going forward.
However, Kevin Thelwell is unlikely to have a lot of funds left to buy Roque before the 30 August deadline and offering what Barcelona want for the winger is likely to be unachievable.
It’s a shame but it seems like a case of going back to the drawing board.
But it is encouraging to see the Blues going after players like Roque. It’s not every day you see a talented Brazilian teenager who’s playing for Barcelona getting linked with a move to the blue half of Merseyside.
Everton’s summer has been a rather successful one.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford are still here, a bunch of new signings have been made and the PSR position is looking quite healthy thanks to the big-money sales of Lewis Dobbin, Amadou Onana and Ben Godfrey adding up to around £71million.
Sean Dyche is a great manager and we’d imagine that there’ll be a big improvement upon last season.
