Barcelona boss Hansi Flick makes decision on Vitor Roque as Everton eye transfer

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is 100 per cent open to Everton target Vitor Roque leaving Camp Nou before the end of the transfer window, according to Sport.

The report (16 August, page 5) indicates that Flick has made it clear that he doesn’t want to use the Brazilian forward and, as a result, he’s set to leave the club in the coming weeks.

It comes off the back of suggestions that Everton are willing to meet Barcelona’s £29.5 million demand (Sport, 14 August) for the 19-year-old.

Can Everton get Vitor Roque signed?

If there was ever going to be a shining light for Everton Football Club right now, this could be it. Roque is young, ambitious, and he has the kind of flair needed to really transform the Toffees up top. Given that he’s 19 it’ll likely take some time, but he has the confidence necessary to thrive in the Premier League.

One of the problems, though, is that Porto are also believed to be in the race (Mundo Deportivo, 16 August). In terms of status, the Portuguese giants certainly have the clout that comes with consistent European football. For Everton, though, Roque could really stand out as one of their key stars this season.

For Sean Dyche, it’s a case of focusing on the task at hand. There are so many different tales surrounding the club from the rumoured takeover to another possible relegation scrap and beyond. When you trim down the fat, his one focus needs to be on Brighton – and if Roque can see the vision, they can go from there.

In other Everton news, a timeline emerges on John Textor’s potential takeover of the club.
