Alan Pardew shares ‘big’ worry for Everton after what he’s seen on TikTok

Alan Pardew believes Everton are in “big, big trouble” this season after what he has seen in the aftermath of the 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The pundit gave his views on talkSPORT [18 August, 8:10pm] when reacting to the defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday [17 August].

Pardew was watching reactions to the match on TikTok and believes the Everton fans are in for a tough season this year under Sean Dyche.

He said: “All the things I see about that game about Everton, the fans really unhappy. They were really unhappy with that performance.

“And you think about the financial position that they’re in, you think about the players they’ve taken in so far, it all looks a little bit desperate for me.

“I think Everton are in big, big trouble.”

Everton are in for another tough Premier League season

The fans made their feelings known when Goodison Park began to empty during the defeat to Brighton.

Dyche’s side offered little attacking threat throughout the match. They were given a lifeline early into the second half when Dominic Calvert-Lewin won a penalty after a foul by Lewis Dunk, but the decision was controversially overturned by Darren England and Sian Massey-Ellis on VAR.

Everton have dominated the headlines over the summer, from successfully raising funds to comply with the Profit and Sustainability rules before the 30 June deadline to the uncertainty surrounding the takeover.

The Toffees have worked well this summer to strengthen the side and will be active until the transfer deadline on 30 August. They certainly need to be as there are still major frailties in the squad.

Ashley Young did his teammates no favours as he received a red card in the second half but a side like Everton, with aspirations of a top-half finish in the Premier League, have no business starting a 39-year-old and have no one to blame but themselves.

All the new signings at Goodison Park this summer have no prior experience in the English top-flight and will need time to adapt. They must adapt quickly and embed themselves into the side as the current crop of players aren’t good enough on their own to compete.

The Blues are in a much better position than they were this time last year, and they should comfortably avoid a relegation battle this term all things considered.

But improving the side has to take priority as they are a couple of injuries away from a squad that can easily be pulled into a fight for survival in the Premier League this season.
