Everton v Tottenham team news: Sean Dyche issues Branthwaite, Tarkowski updates
Everton will want to bounce back from opening day defeat as they prepare to travel to face Tottenham on Saturday 24 August.
The Toffees began the season with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brighton at Goodison Park and will be looking to kick start their season in North London.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, shared by Everton on 22 August via X, Sean Dyche has revealed that James Tarkowski could miss out on the clash.
Providing an update on the injury worries at Goodison, he said: “He’s still a bit away, he’s not close at the moment.
“A few of the lads are getting closer. Seamus [Coleman] is a bit closer, Jimmy Garner is a bit closer and is just coming back into training with the group. Tawkowski’s got a maybe situation so we’ll have to look at that going into the next game.
“Yousef [Chermiti] is longer longer term, Patterson is longer term as well.”
Everton could miss James Tarkowski v Tottenham
The Toffees had about the worst possible start to the season thanks to a heavy defeat and a red card on the opening day.
Dyche has also come under fire for comments made after the game which has criticised supporters for leaving Goodison early.
This has created a somewhat negative atmosphere around the club which isn’t ideal so early on in a fresh campaign.
It doesn’t look like things are going to get easier with Tarkowski now out meaning Dyche is without his two main centre-backs who did so well last season.
The English duo were superb last season and played a large role as Premier League safety was confirmed with plenty of time to spare.
Luckily Jake O’Brien has been signed so can step in and fill the void left by the injured pair but it is a big ask of the 23-year-old.
It is a frustrating blow for Dyche and Co. who will turn up to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hoping for a positive result.
