Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy share ‘terrible’ Everton verdict after Tottenham rout

Jason Cundy reacted to a “terrible” start from Everton live on talkSPORT as the Toffees were routed 4-0 by Tottenham on Saturday (24 August).

The disappointing reverse at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium followed a poor 3-0 reverse at home to Brighton in their opening Premier League clash last weekend.

And, speaking on talkSPORT (24 August) about their ‘winners and losers’ of the matchday, O’Hara and Cundy reflected on the difficult start Sean Dyche’s men have made.

“Dyche is having a tough time. The whole of Everton Football Club has got to go in I think,” O’Hara said.

Cundy then replied with: “Can we lump them in? Shall we just put Goodison in there, Dyche, everyone.

“If you’re a Toffee, you’re in there. They’ve had a terrible start.”

Everton need to buck up their ideas before it’s too late

It was hoped Everton would be in a much stronger place, at least on the pitch, this season after the club were the first Premier League team to be reprimanded by Profit and Sustainability Rules in the previous campaign.

The Toffees were deducted a total of eight points from two separate breaches last term and found themselves dragged into a relegation battle once again, which they ultimately steered well clear of.

But many expected the club to be in a better place with the additions of players such as Iliman Ndiaye and Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom [Shamoon Hafez, 5 August].

However, it hasn’t gone that way as of yet and the Toffees now find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League table with a goal difference of minus seven.

And, with less than a week left of the transfer window, it’s becoming pretty evident that unless they can find a way to strengthen the squad then another season of struggle could be on the cards.

Dyche needs to entrust his new arrivals and hope that they can help turn around the Toffees’ fortunes and perhaps help them find their feet in the league once again.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have set their demands to allow Neal Maupay to exit Merseyside this summer.
