Three new signings start, Dominic Calvert-Lewin axed – Everton predicted XI v Doncaster Rovers

Sean Dyche could make four changes from the Everton side that lost 4-0 to Tottenham for the Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday [August 27].

The Blues sit rock bottom of the Premier League table after two matches wherein they’ve conceded seven goals and failed to score themselves after being routed by Spurs on Saturday (24 August).

Iliman Ndiaye, Jesper Lindstrom, and Jake O’Brien could start the match at Goodison Park with Dyche looking to get his new signings up to speed at the Blues after a dreadful start to the season.

Everton will face Doncaster in the second round of the Carabao Cup for the second consecutive season, the Toffees ran out 2-1 winners at the Eco-Power stadium last time out thanks to goals from Arnaut Danjuma and Beto.

Sean Dyche to make four Everton changes for Doncaster clash

The ever-reliable Jordan Pickford should keep his place between the sticks for the tie, the England number one has had a torrid time for the Blues in the Premier League but Dyche cannot risk starting returning signing Asmir Begovic in what has become a must-win game.

Roman Dixon gave a good account of himself in his Premier League debut against Tottenham, he could get the nod again against easier opposition and a chance to challenge Ashley Young at right-back in the absence of Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson.

James Tarkowski returned to the side over the weekend but should sit this one out with new signing O’Brien to start his first match for the Blues and become acclimatised to his new side alongside Michael Keane.

Vitaliy Mykolenko should keep his place at left-back given the lack of available options at Dyche’s disposal.

The same should be the case for centre-midfield, Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam were run ragged in North London but the Blues are hardly spoiled for choice in midfield options and the pairing will likely get the nod to play their third consecutive match.

The Carabao Cup match is the perfect opportunity to hand Ndiaye and Lindstrom their first starts for the club, Everton will need to get the pair up to speed as quickly as possible to help the side overturn their fortunes in the Premier League.

Dwight McNeil is the obvious choice to start on the left side of the attack, the former Burnley man was influential at times last season and should start again to regain his confidence against weaker opposition.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has looked lost for ideas for the Toffees in the opening matches as speculation surrounding his future persists [TBR Football]. Dyche should make the sensible decision to remove him from the limelight and hand the first start of the season to Beto.
