Ernest Nuamah transfer terms emerge at Everton as permanent Lyon exit mooted

If Everton sign Ernest Nuamah before the transfer deadline it will be a permanent deal, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Thursday (29 August) that while Nuamah’s Lyon teammate Orel Mangala would be signed on an initial loan deal, any move for the Ghanaian would be made permanent from the off.

Both the Toffees and Premier League rivals Fulham have reportedly made approaches to sign the 20-year-old before the 30 August deadline as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his ranks [Fabrizio Romano, 28 August].

Will Ernest Nuamah exit Lyon amid Everton transfer rumours?

There have understandably been some concerns around Everton supporters about the fact they are signing two players from John Textor-owned Lyon in what appear to be slightly strange loan-to-buy deals.

But Myers’ insistence that the French club are just looking to move a few players out before the transfer deadline, rather than taking advantage of their current ties with the Toffees, should come as a welcome boost to the Blues.

While the Toffees and Dyche do need new recruits before the transfer window slams shut, they aren’t in a financial position to throw money around recklessly without running the risk of breaching the Premier League’s PSR.

Hopefully, the powers at be at Goodison Park have taken that into account when it comes to this deal and won’t have arranged deals that could stretch Everton beyond their financial means as has been the case in the past.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see one or two players head out of the blue half of Merseyside before the window slams shut if both Mangala and Nuamah are signed in a last-ditch attempt to balance the Goodsion books.
