Everton insider questions ‘troublesome’ Neal Maupay amid Goodison Park exit news

Bryan King claims Everton ace Neal Maupay could prove to be “troublesome for Sean Dyche” amid reported transfer interest in the forward.

The ex-Goodison scout believes the striker is capable of making a difference for the Toffees.

It comes after talkSPORT’s Alex Crook reported via X (28 August) that several Championship clubs are interested in Maupay.

King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels the 28-year-old does have what it takes to be a Premier League player if he can fix his attitude.

“There are a few clubs interested in signing him,” King said.

“What Dyche and Everton were looking for were the performances he put in at Brighton. He was outstanding at Brighton.

“However, he has been a troublemaker at Goodison Park, both on and off the pitch. I’m not sure why he doesn’t settle down and play his football because he is quite capable.

“Attitude plays a big part. If his attitude is to work hard for Everton then he can still be a big asset. However, there is a question mark over him all the time.

“He appears to be troublesome for Dyche and troublesome for the football club, and the last thing Everton need is problems. They need everybody rowing that boat in the same direction.

“We know what he’s capable of, and he is a very talented footballer. However, if they are going to be battling relegation, then it is going to be a tough season.”

Everton forward Neal Maupay to quit Goodison Park?

It hasn’t quite worked out for Maupay since he arrived at Everton.

Therefore, the Toffees might be considering cutting ties with the player amid reported interest. However, it will be a difficult decision for the club to make.

On the one hand, they know that Maupay has real quality and could make a difference. However, he would need to cut out his off-the-field antics, and the club must decide if they think he is capable of doing that.
