Jarrad Branthwaite transfer update at Everton as last-minute Goodison exit mooted

Alan Myers has admitted that he can’t see Jarrad Branthwaite completing a last-minute Everton exit ahead of the transfer deadline.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park throughout the summer, with Manchester United seeing two bids for his services rejected already [Liverpool Echo, 19 August].

While the Red Devils’ interest in the 22-year-old remains, Sky Sports journalist Myers still believes that Branthwaite will be a Toffees player past the Friday 30 August transfer deadline and beyond.

Writing on X on Wednesday (28 August) he said: “I don’t see Branthwaite going anywhere.”

Will Jarrad Branthwaite exit Everton amid Manchester United transfer rumours?

Everton and Sean Dyche have worked so hard to keep Branthwaite on Merseyside this summer and have stood by their valuation of the defender despite receiving several concrete offers for the defender from Manchester United.

It would be incredibly frustrating for Dyche and the supporters if that hard work was undone in the final hours of the transfer window and the 22-year-old walked away from Goodison Park as the subject of a last-minute bid.

The Blues’ terrible start to the Premier League season has coincided with the defender being sidelined through injury in the opening weeks. He is arguably now the Toffees’ most important player and it would be a nightmare to lose him at this stage of the summer.

Hopefully, Myers’ prediction is correct and Branthwaite won’t be going anywhere ahead of Friday evening’s deadline.

If the Toffees’ valuation is met in the final hours of the window, however, Everton could well have a major transfer decision on their hands. Whatever fee they receive will have to be enough to help find a last-gasp swoop for a new defender
