Chelsea offer Everton Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana as Deadline Day talks collapse
Everton have been offered both Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana on loan in final day talks with Chelsea, according to HITC.
The outlet reported via their website on 30 August that the clubs held discussions over a deal to send Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Stamford Bridge permanently, with the two London strikers coming the other way on temporary moves.
But the deal fell through as Chelsea only value the Toffees star at £12million which was well below the cash amount Everton would have wanted in the deal.
Sean Dyche’s side have seen Neal Maupay depart to Marseille on a loan that will be made permanent but will only sign a striker if Calvert-Lewin moves on.
Everton offered deal to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin
For a slightly higher fee the deal that was on offer might have been exactly what the Toffees were looking for this summer.
Sky Sports Alan Myers has indicated (29 August) that Calvert-Lewin will only follow Maupay out if a replacement comes in so two would be a bonus, if there was space on the wage bill.
If it weren’t for the ever-present financial concerns at Goodison Park it might have been a good deal even for £12m, given the number nine is inside the final year of his contract and hasn’t been exhibiting great form so far this season.
There might also be an argument that it is worth taking as is, since one obvious alternative is that the 28-year-old goes for nothing next summer and doesn’t necessarily set the world on fire until then.
However, despite positive signs from Beto, the Englishman is still the most proven striker Everton have got and has more of a track record in the Premier League than either Broja or Datro Fofana.

Maupay’s exit is largely immaterial to the striker picture in light of his lack of impact since signing from Brighton two years ago, so the deal done with Marseille is a decent one.
But Dyche, Kevin Thelwell and the Toffees need to balance finances and actual potency in attack on the pitch up until 11pm.
Chelsea look in major need of takers for fringe players so the situation could remain live right into the final hours of the window.
