Everton table transfer bid to sign award winner on deadline day

Everton and Fulham have both made offers to secure the services of Lyon attacker Ernest Nuamah, according to Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

The Ghanasoccernet and Football Ghana founder reported on 30 August that the Ligue 1 side are now considering both bids that arrived on the table for the 20-year-old.

Nuamah moved to Lyon on loan last summer before the move became permanent and he could already be on his way out.

Daara wrote on X: “Two English clubs Fulham and Everton are in a hot race to sign Ghana star Ernest Nuamah from French club Lyon. The two sides have placed their offers and the Ligue 1 club are considering it.”

Everton need attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes

The Toffees’ interest in Daara is understandable as he’s highly rated and already an overachiever at his age.

Despite being 20, the Ghana international has won a host of awards including Danish Superliga Player of the Year in 2022-23 and Odartey Lamptey Future Star Award in 2023.

He’s already become a regular for his country and has perhaps outgrown the challenge in Ligue 1.

The Premier League will undoubtedly be a whole different ball game and he would add a unique element to the Toffees’ attack.

Whether or not the Merseyside outfit can secure the winger’s services ahead of the London club, remains to be seen.

Both sides are expected to finish in the bottom half and are unlikely to be vying for European spots so it could come down to which side is willing to offer more money to the club as well as the player.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are eyeing a deadline-busting move to sign a £10m-rated international striker.
