Orel Malanga contract update emerges at Everton ahead of last-minute transfer

Orel Mangala has signed his Everton contract ahead of his deadline day loan move to Goodison Park, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via X on Friday (30 August) that the Lyon midfielder has completed his medical with Sean Dyche’s side and has put pen to paper on his deal to join the Toffees on loan for the season.

Mangala’s move to Merseyside is not believed to contain an option to make it permanent at the end of the season, instead, it is now expected to be a straight loan switch until the end of the Premier League season [Fabrizio Romano, 29 August].

Will Oriel Managala join Everton ahead of the transfer deadline?

Dyche may have suggested that the Toffees’ business was already finished this summer, but it seems as though that was a bit of a red herring from the Blues boss now that this deal is all but done and dusted.

While it is just a loan move with no option to buy included, it is crucial that the Blues have strengthened their midfield before the window slams shut after their dreadful start to the Premier League season.

When everyone is fit and available, the Toffees do have a number of impressive midfield options at their disposal. But the majority of them are ageing and past their peak and Dyche cannot rely on them to play each and every week.

Hopefully, Mangala will add an extra bit of energy and dynamism over the course of his loan spell and help Everton begin to climb the Premier League table as they look to avoid the drop into the Championship.

If all has gone to plan as Romano has suggested, it shouldn’t be too long before supporters get an official confirmation from the club before the window slams shut at 11pm.
