Orel Mangala medical delayed in Everton transfer twist ahead of deadline day
Everton will complete a loan move for Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala despite his medical being delayed, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist shared the update late on 29 August, with the verbal agreement already finalised between the clubs.
Mangala was on a private jet to Merseyside on Wednesday evening [Sacha Tavolieri], with the medical the only stumbling block before the deal is complete.
Orel Mangala transfer twist at Everton
After a terrible start to the season, the last thing everyone needs at Goodison Park is a failed deadline day attempt at a new signing.
Thankfully, it looks as though Mangala will still be announced before the 11 pm deadline on 30 August.
The plan all along was for the Belgium international to officially sign on the dotted line on deadline day [Sacha Tavolieri], so his medical being pushed back to the same date makes little difference.
Sean Dyche will be desperate for some reinforcements and help after two demoralising defeats to start the Premier League season against Brighton and Tottenham.
If Mangala is finished early, Kevin Thelwell could be released to try and get another over the line, with the madness of deadline day hopefully at play for the Toffees.
This is certainly something to watch as the hours tick down at Goodison Park.
