Andy Walker lauds ‘perfect’ Everton ace Dwight McNeil after what he did v Bournemouth

Andy Walker was wowed by Dwight McNeil’s pass into Dominic Calvert-Lewin for his goal as Everton somehow lost 3-2 against Bournemouth.

It looked as though the England international had secured all three points at Goodison Park on 31 August, but it was thrown away in the final few minutes.

Speaking on the USA Network (31 August), Walker insisted that Calvert-Lewin will always get goals with service like that for Sean Dyche.

“It was a perfect pass into the path of Calvert-Lewin,” he said.

“And then there’s the composure, [he] just lifts it over the goalkeeper and it gives Everton that vital two-goal cushion.

“As long as he gets good service, he’ll get goals.”

Everton stink out Goodison Park.

Since the end of last season and the start of the new campaign, Everton have been a team that has felt quite down in the dumps.

Whilst their pre-season performance was better than most expected, their start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign was far from their best.

Sean Dyche’s men found themselves rock-bottom of the table with fans even calling for their manager’s head after the latest shocking defeat.

One of their key issues from last term was the lack of form that their strikers found themselves in which is why Armando Broja has been brought in [Liverpool ECHO, 31 August].

The addition of newbie Iliman Ndiaye to the first team also benefitted Everton massively due to the number of chances that he created, although it wasn’t enough.

Of course, it’s still early days but if Calvert-Lewin will need to start scoring more if he wants to help his side get out of another relegation battle.
