Sean Dyche set to make Luton Town ace Elijah Adebayo Everton ‘top target’
Everton boss Sean Dyche has sounded out Luton Town’s Elijah Adebayo as his “top striker target” for January, according to Alan Nixon.
Reporting via his Patreon (31 August), Nixon said that Dyche expects to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January and could look towards the Luton ace as his replacement.
The report also states that the Everton boss would have bid for Adebayo in the summer were Calvert-Lewin to have exited.
Luton are reportedly open to letting their star man go for a fee in between £15million and £20million.
Elijah Adebayo could be the perfect Everton replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Of all Luton’s players during their maiden season in the Premier League last term, Adebayo was arguably Rob Edwards’ best player.
The striker was their main source of goals throughout the 2023/24 campaign and made quite a name for himself in England’s top flight.
In fact, there were even rumours back in May circling about Dyche being “keen” on bringing the attacker to Goodison Park [TEAMtalk, 20 May].
Evidently, however, nothing came to fruition and the striker stayed with the Hatters.
Everton has gotten off to quite a poor start in the Premier League thus far and although Calvert-Lewin managed to bag a goal during their 3-2 collapse against Bournemouth (31 August) it still feels as if Dyche’s men could improve in more ways than one.

Indeed, not all of the Toffees’ new additions were part of the squad so there is still room for improvement, especially when deadline day arrival Orel Mangala [Florian Plettenberg, 30 August] is added to Dyche’s starting 11.
Only time will tell what happens to Everton in January but, one thing is for sure, if things carry on as they are, change will definitely be needed.
