Everton takeover hangs in the balance after recent developments at Goodison Park
Bryan King has suggested a takeover is unlikely to go ahead at Goodison Park if Everton are relegated from the Premier League.
The ex-Goodison scout believes that Premier League status will be “essential” for any potential owners.
Everton currently sit bottom of the table after three defeats from their opening three matches. They were beaten 3-2 by Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Saturday (31 August), despite leading 2-0 in the 87th minute.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – claims decisions need to be made at the club.
“Everton are making things hard for themselves,” King said.
“They face a real battle now, points are going to be essential. Of course, concerning the takeover, the Premier League is essential as well.
“You can’t think that somebody is going to buy the football club if they go down to the Championship, because the net worth of the club isn’t exactly going to increase.
“They need that television payment at the start of every season. However, the way things are happening on the pitch seems to align with the way things are happening off the pitch.
“Decisions need to be made, and firm ones at that. I’ve always said that once this takeover is complete, and people know their position at the club, we will see a different Everton.
“Until the sale of the club is resolved, there seems to be an uncertainty with the fans, players and staff. It is not a good position for anybody, especially when your neighbours are sitting top of the league.”
Everton takeover at risk at Goodison Park?
It feels as though the takeover saga at Goodison Park has dragged on for a lifetime.
And the longer it goes on, the more of a problem that becomes for the Toffees. If the club don’t start to pick up some form soon, relegation could become a real possibility.
That could lead to any potential investors, such as John Textor, pulling the plug on their takeover bid amid fears that they would be purchasing a soon-to-be Championship club.

Therefore, it is important that Sean Dyche and the players quickly turn things around, for the sake of the club’s long-term future.
