Ally McCoist makes Everton relegation prediction amid ‘Mental’ concern

Ally McCoist believes that Everton will have a “real mental thing” to get over after their 3-2 loss against Bournemouth on 31 August.

The Toffees have lost all three of the Premier League matches so far this season and surrendered a 2-0 lead to the Cherries, conceding three goals from the 87th minute.

McCoist acknowledged there will be mental scars to overcome that defeat but still predicted that Sean Dyche’s men will avoid relegation this season.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (3 September), McCoist said: “I think Dyche will be given time to turn things around and I think they’ll be ok, I genuinely do.

“I mean the result, the mental effect on the team, is something that would be a concern after a result like that.

“A result like that where by all accounts (Everton) played really well and dominated the game, 2-0 up with three minutes to go, so that’ll be a real mental thing that they’ll have to get over.

“But, I still think that they’ll be okay.”

Sean Dyche can turn things around for Everton

If there’s one thing that can be said about Dyche, it’s that he loves surviving a Premier League relegation battle.

Throughout Dyche’s career, he’s had two main Premier League stints as a manager with both Burnley and Everton.

Despite the clubs having solid teams, Dyche has always found himself in the relegation zone. Last season was no different either, in fact, it was arguably one of the most difficult of his career.

The Toffees were deducted eight points thanks to two separate breaches of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The international break could be welcomed by Dyche as he tries to regroup his team and allow them to gel together and perform to the highest standards that they can.

It will also allow the manager to try and reinvigorate his side and work on getting over the mental difficulties from their Bournemouth collapse.

The new additions of players such as Iliman Ndiaye and deadline-day arrival Orel Mangala, could help turn their form around in an instant with Dyche looking towards the duo to help shore up his side.
