Everton insider blasts Goodison Park board after latest Premier League PSR drama
Bryan King has blasted the Everton board for causing “turmoil” at Goodison Park after it was announced that the Toffees would not have to pay the entirety of a £4.9million legal bill.
The ex-Goodison scout claims there wouldn’t be a bill to pay if it wasn’t for the current board at Everton.
As reported by The Times on Wednesday (4 September), the Toffees will only need to pay a third of the £4.9million legal costs from last season’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules case.
The Premier League will be required to pay the remaining £3.2million of the bill.
Despite the positive outcome, King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that the club shouldn’t have even been in this situation in the first place.
“I think anything is a boost for Everton right now,” King said.
“Zero points, the takeover still hasn’t been done. However, in terms of this £4.9million, we’re talking about peanuts here when you look at the price of the football club.
“Winning this case is not going to alter the way that the team play on the pitch. It is only going to give the board and the people who created this problem in the first place a bit of relief.
“Whether we like it or not, the people running this club have caused all of these cases to be brought forward in the first place. The administration side of things has been in turmoil.
“If things had been done properly, this case would have never been brought forward. Therefore, there wouldn’t have been any case about who would pay the bill because there wouldn’t have been a bill to pay.
“Everton just seem to lurch from one fiasco to the next. All of a sudden, they’ve come out on top with one of these fiascos.”
Everton get one over on the Premier League at Goodison Park
While this might not be hugely significant, a win is a win. After all of the troubles at Everton in recent times, this will come as a small boost for the club.
However, this by no means signals the end of the Toffees’ troubles. A takeover is still yet to be complete, and there could yet be further points deductions in the Premier League (via the Times, 4 September).

Therefore, while they might have been handed this small victory, there are still a lot of big questions for the Everton board to answer.
