Armando Broja injury update emerges as Everton sign him despite failed medical

Everton and Ipswich Town probably have different standards in terms of the fitness of their players amid the recent Armando Broja saga, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has explained the Toffees’ reasoning behind signing the 22-year-old striker on loan from Chelsea.

This comes as the Evening Standard reported on 30 August that the Albanian’s move to Ipswich fell through as he failed a medical.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison NewsBrar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Broja:

Different clubs and medical teams will have different criteria for what constitutes yellow or red flags or what they are comfortable with when it comes to risk/reward.

For example, Ipswich may be more cautious because they have less financial clout than larger clubs and as a newly promoted team, need their signings to do well and play more whereas Everton aren’t in that position and can allow Broja time to return.

“He does seem weeks away from returning at this stage.”

Everton make interesting gamble by signing Armando Broja

Signing Broja after he failed his medical at another club was always going to be a risk that the Toffees would have to take.

It seems that the club hierarchy believed that the 22-year-old would get his fitness sorted and be a crucial first-team player for them.

Whether or not this decision pays off, remains to be seen, but it is certainly an interesting gamble to make.
