Aaron Lennon shares what he finds concerning about Everton under Sean Dyche live on talkSPORT
Aaron Lennon says he struggles to see how Everton have conceded so many goals with the number of senior players in the side.
The Toffees have shipped 10 just three games into the Premier League season, rooted to the foot of the table without a point.
Sean Dyche’s team were soundly beaten by both Brighton and Tottenham, and let slip a seemingly unassailable lead late on against Bournemouth last time out, baffling the supporters.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [12 September], former Goodison winger Lennon said: “They’ve conceded 10 goals.
“In a Sean Dyche team that just doesn’t happen so that is concerning.
“Alright, Branthwaite has been out but you look at the senior lads there like Tarkowski, Coleman, Keane, Idrissa Gueye in front of them, Pickford.”
Everton suffer embarrassing start
The pressure is massively on Everton already – the supporters were manifesting a positive start to the campaign to pick up where they left off before the summer.
But it has not been anywhere near good enough – the Toffees laid barely a glove on Brighton, were embarrassed by Spurs, and then the Bournemouth comeback was just jaw-dropping to witness – the defending inexcusable.
Dyche is a confident manager who believes he knows his best team, but there is still something so painfully wrong despite all the senior pros inside the Goodison Park home dressing room.

Maybe it points to just how integral Branthwaite is to the side, and injuries have scuppered Dyche’s plans, but that can’t be used as a consistent excuse when, as Lennon says, there are so many players in blue who have seen it all before and should have a bit more savvy.
It’s a trip down the M6 next, taking on Unai Emery’s Champions League opponents Aston Villa – it gets no easier. Getting off the mark can’t come quickly enough.
