Simon Jordan makes Everton relegation admission live on air after loss v Aston Villa

Simon Jordan admits that he isn’t worried about Everton potentially being relegated from the Premier League this season.

The Toffees are currently rooted to the bottom of the league table having extended their winless start to the campaign to four matches with a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday (14 September).

While some pundits and supporters are suggesting that this may be the season that the Blues struggle to avoid the drop, talkSPORT host Jordan insists that the Toffees will be fine come the end of the year.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (16 September, 11:57) Jim White said: “Do you worry for Everton?”

Jordan replied: “No I don’t. They won’t carry on like this. First and foremost they’re creating chances, Calvert-Lewin had two glorious chances, one to take the game away from Aston Villa and one to get them back into the game.

“One he doesn’t make himself aware of what’s going on around him and one the crossbar saves Aston Villa. I think if you look at Everton and go what happened against Bournemouth it’s inexplicable and Sean Dyche can’t explain what has happened.

“Everything that they should have done, they didn’t do. If this game was in isolation people would be saying well Everton aren’t they? They gave Villa a proper game and they really could have got something out of this game.

“I think Everton will be fine, but I don’t think they’re banking on being better than three other sides.”

Will Everton be relegated from the Premier League amid Goodison Park updates?

There has been a feeling of doom and gloom around Goodison Park so far this season with most supporters already strapping in for what looks like it could be yet another difficult season.

But as Jordan suggests, there have been moments in both of the Blues’ last two defeats to suggest that they are more than capable of not only staying up but picking up points against some very good Premier League sides.

They will have to be more clinical in the final third and tighten up at the back if they want to hold onto leads and see out games, particularly at Goodison Park where they have been far too open this season.

However, the framework is in place for the Toffees to build on in the coming weeks. It seems as though Dyche will be given time to turn things around and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a change of fortune on Merseyside sooner rather than later.
