Alan Myers responds to Dan Friedkin takeover news at Everton in last 24 hours
Alan Myers insists that something will happen soon at Everton after Dan Friedkin reignited his interest in a takeover bid.
After cooling his interest in purchasing the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri just two months ago, the American businessman is now in discussions with stakeholders again [Bloomberg].
Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor is also in the mix to complete a takeover at Goodison Park, with the 58-year-old wanting to speed up the sale of his shareholding at Selhurst Park to fund his Everton bid [Daily Mail].
Taking to X late on Monday (16 September), Myers responded to a fan, writing: “Something will happen, what, I can’t say yet.”
Dan Friedkin to re-enter takeover fray at Everton?
The interest in the Toffees will be very flattering, and also exciting for Moshiri, who wants to find a buyer, but it does suggest the takeover saga is set to continue for a while longer.
Given Friedkin’s experience with AS Roma, he could be a rather interesting addition to the boardroom, having helped lead the Italian club to European competitions.
The businessman’s estimated net worth of £4.85billion, as per The Esk, would suggest he can stabilise the Toffees’ financial situation, invest in new star signings and help to keep the club in the Premier League.
While Textor is also keen to make the club a “superpower”, the American is searching for potential partners to help put the millions together to complete a deal, with musician Jay-Z interested [Alan Nixon].
Both potential buyers have multiple positives, and the fans have every right to be excited about the future, but the main feeling will be wanting to complete a takeover deal as soon as possible.
Friedkin’s interest suggests Textor is not very close to striking a deal, either at Selhurst Park or Goodison Park, so the takeover saga could be set to continue for a little while longer still.
