Everton team news v Southampton in new Jarrad Branthwaite injury update

Jarrad Branthwaite isn’t likely to be risked for Everton against Southampton in the Carabao Cup on 17 September, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported on 16 September that, aside from Branthwaite’s likely absence, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Garner are “pressing” for starts.

After consecutive 3-2 losses in the Premier League, Sean Dyche looks like he could make changes after multiple in the previous round against Doncaster.

Jarrad Branthwaite injury update at Everton

The Toffees have had a terrible start to their Premier League season and find themselves rock bottom of the table with zero points to their name.

Their last two games have been some of the worst collapses in recent history with the Merseyside outfit managing to bottle two-goal leads on both occasions.

Everton’s recent form has brought Sean Dyche’s future into question with the return of David Moyes being mooted across the Goodison fanbase.

One of their main problems seems to be in defence. Without Branthwaite at the back, the rest of the team doesn’t look like they know what they’re doing.

The fact that Michael Keane is still starting each game also needs to be questioned, especially when summer transfer Jake O’Brien is sitting on the bench.

Keane has been poor across all of Everton’s games this term and was lambasted by the media after his performance against Aston Villa.

The sooner that Branthwaite returns, the better it will be for both Dyche and the club.

In other Everton news, the Toffees may regret selling one of their attackers after what he did for his new club.
