Moshiri to reach Everton sale agreement soon, finances to be put in place – Alan Myers

John Textor is closing in on an agreement to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri, according to Alan Myers.

The American businessman has been the front-runner to acquire majority shares in the Blues for some time now and it seems talks have accelerated since The Friedkin Group reignited their interest [Bloomberg].

Sky Sports journalist Myers took to his X account [19 September] to report that Textor, assuming all goes to plan, will become the new owner of Everton Football Club.

He said: “The proposed deal for American businessman John Textor to takeover Everton is progressing well. A deal to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s shareholding is expected to be agreed very soon.

“That will see Textor begin the process of putting the finances in place, acquiring Premier league approval and selling his stake in Crystal Palace.”

Everton takeover saga is finally reaching a conclusion

The biggest obstacle in Textor’s bid to purchase Everton is his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace which must be sold to complete the takeover.

That sale is expected to provide little fuss with two groups vying for his shares in the South London club, valued between £190-200m with the 58-year-old acquiring the services of Raine bank to fast-track the sale [Daily Mail].

It seems that finally, after two failed bids from 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group, Everton will be under new ownership under Textor and the club can work towards long-term financial stability.

The news will be music to the ears of the supporters who are desperate for good news after their side’s abysmal start to the season made even worse by the Carabao Cup exit to Southampton on Tuesday [17 September] via penalties at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche will be sweating on his future with the Blues should Textor assume ownership, however his future at the club is of little concern to the Everton supporters who are tired of seeing their club flirt with relegation year after year.

With the Goodison Park farewell campaign going far worse than hoped, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel for the Blues.
