David Moyes question marks emerge at Everton after new takeover developments
Henry Winter has been left questioning whether or not David Moyes would be interested in making a return to Everton with a takeover looming in the background.
Sean Dyche has come under pressure from supporters after the Blues’ poor start to the season, with pundits and fans alike suggesting Moyes would be the perfect replacement at Goodison Park.
However, talkSPORT host and journalist Winter is unsure if the Scotsman would be keen to move back to Merseyside when he may not be the pick of prospective new owners such as John Textor or Dan Friedkin.
Writing in his Substack column on Friday (20 September) he said: “Would any potential successor to Dyche, even someone who knows and loves the club like David Moyes, step into the breach now when he might not be the choice of the new owner?
“Everton are bedevilled with questions at the moment. Dyche needs to find some answers on the field at the King Power.”
David Moyes to make Goodison Park return amid Everton sack update?
It is easy to suggest that Moyes would be keen to save the day at Goodison Park because of his previous work on Merseyside, but things are rarely that straightforward in the world of football.
The Scotsman doesn’t appear to be in any rush to return to management having left West Ham at the end of last season and while the right offer would likely tempt him back into the dugout, this job may not be the right one.
Talks are advancing for Textor to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake in the Toffees [Alan Myers, 19 September] and the American billionaire has previously suggested he would be keen to implement a different style at Goodison.

On the face of it, it seems unlikely that Moyes would be the sort of manager Textor would be looking for to take that next step at Everton which would mean his position would be immediately at risk if and when the takeover was completed.
Maybe if a short-term deal could be agreed in the event of Dyche being sacked, the former Manchester United man could be tempted into the dugout, but it seems unlikely at this stage.
