Farhad Moshiri slammed as John Textor takeover wait continues at Everton

The Esk has slammed Farhad Moshiri as Everton fans seek clarity over the club’s ongoing takeover.

Crystal Palace shareowner John Textor is the current frontrunner to assume ownership of the Blues with a deal expected “very soon” according to Alan Myers, who has since reported an update on the talks is due to emerge imminently.

While the potential deal is on hold as the American attempts to sell his 45 per cent take in the Eagles, Everton finance expert The Esk has hit out at Moshiri’s handling of the situation and sent a direct message to the Everton owner on behalf of the supporters.

Writing on his personal blog [22 September], he said: “[Moshiri] should be talking to the fanbase, talking to his employees (after all he has a duty of care), talking to stakeholders about the solutions to the problems we face. He should be seeking the appropriate solution providers, regardless of his desire to step away.

“We, the fans, need honesty – we will do, and continue to do our part in keeping our club afloat, but we need more from the club and its owner.

“Not just vague promises about a brighter future, about appropriate, most suitably qualified future owners but about who is addressing the issues surrounding a change of ownership as well as the multitude of operational and footballing issues swirling around the Royal Liver Building and Goodison Park.”

Everton takeover still ongoing

Textor is well-positioned to sell his Crystal Palace shares, valued between £190-200million, courtesy of the help of Raine Group [Daily Mail] and it seems only a matter of time before the 58-year-old leads Everton into a new era.

The Friedkin Group reigniting their interest in the Blues [Bloomberg] after the AS Roma owners initially walked away from a deal back in July, but that is not expected to dampen Textor’s bid. The fact that he has remained in the race ever since announcing his intentions to buy out Moshiri will work in his favour.

However, the future of Everton will remain in limbo until Textor gets his affairs in order, meaning Moshiri will have to see out his duties for a while longer, a prospect that will terrify the supporters.

His financial mismanagement has led the Toffees to their current situation and, with fortunes on the pitch arguably worse than the off-the-pitch fiasco surrounding the takeover, the supporters need Textor to succeed in his bid.

All the conflicting reports on whether Everton are financially stable for the time being are adding fuel to the fire, a notion that perhaps Sean Dyche is grateful for to distract from his performances in the Goodison Park dugout this season leading the club into another relegation battle.

Either way, if Myers is to be believed, supporters will get their wish and receive clarity on the situation in the coming days. Fingers crossed that, for once, there is positive news.
